F. Morehouse Dead. Albert F. Morehouse, the pioneer resident of Portland township and one of the oldest in the county, died Sunday from neuralgia of the heart. He was 83 years old and leaves seven children. He settled there in 1853 and married soon after, his wife dying a year ago. He was prominent in politics and was well known throughout the county. He was a member of the Baptist church and was devoted to its service. Just inside the door of his home, where he had been living alone, was pinned a paper giving instructions should he ever be found dead. One was also found over his desk at his office. He left behind a record of the town’s history that will be intensely valuable in the future. Every paper; picture and parchment in his little office has a history. There are among other things files which date back as far as his appearance in this section; remnants of the old town library, records of old settlers and notes given for the construction of the Marshall and Coldwater railroad.
