Portland Review, 7 Dec 2008

Violet M. Morgan, 85, of Portland, passed away on Nov. 25, 2008.  She was born on
Dec. 9, 1922 in Howard City the daughter of Elmer and Florence (Besemer) Sumner. 
Violet was a member of Portland United Methodist Church for many years.  She
graduated from Lansing Community College in 1969 with a degree in nursing and worked
at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; sisters, Doris, Ruth and Alice and
her husband of 67 years, Milton “Mickey” Morgan in 2006.

Surviving are children Rebecca (Jim) Schuitema, James (Tamara) Morgan and Scott
(Debra) Morgan; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Beech and
Lillian Peel; sister-in-law Joan Sumner.

Memorial services were conducted by Pastor Keith Treman on Dec. 3 at the Portland
United Methodist Church.  Inurnment was held at Portland Cemetery.  Arrangements are
being handled by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.  In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to Portland United Methodist Church in memory of Violet.
