Ionia Standard, 18 Mar 1887

Mrs. Louis Morganthaler died Monday morning at her residence in this city at 7
o’clock, in the 71st year of her age.  She came from Indiana to Ionia over
thirty years ago, having resided in the former state only a few months after her
arrival in America from Germany.  She was married in Germany over forty years
ago.  She was a devout Christian, and one of the original members of the German
Evangelical society in this city, and was ever up and doing for the welfare of
the church.  The mother of George and Dr. Gundrum, who died a year ago, was her
sister, and another sister, Mrs. Weisgarber, residing south of Grand river,
survives her.
