She was taken suddenly ill Thursday evening, March 20. She was born June 19, 1863, in Ionia, the daughter of Gottleib and Sophia Lauster. She was married to Louis H. Morgenthaler in 1894. Her husband preceded her in death 17 years ago having died in 1921. Mrs. Morgenthaler was a life-long member of the Evangelical church of Ionia and was teacher of the beginners’ department for 57 years, organist of the church for about 60 years and president of the ladies’ aid society for 30 years. She was always active and interested in the work of her church as well as civic activities. She is survived by one brother, George Lauster of Ionia, two nieces, Mrs. Marion Moulton of Ionia and Mrs. Grace Fields of Flint and three nephews, William Lauster of Detroit, Homer Fletcher of Lyons and Morgan Fletcher of Chicago. Funeral services will be held from the Stebbins funeral home on West Main street Monday afternoon April 4, at 1:30 o’clock for relatives and from the Evangelical church at 2 o’clock. Rev. Arthur C. DeVries will be in charge of the services. Interment will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Ionia. The body will lie in the Stebbins funeral home until Monday when it will lie in state in the church from 12 o’clock until 2 o’clock Monday afternoon.
