The Portland Observer, Wednesday, January 2, 1895

Mary, wife of Jerry Moriarity, died at her home north of town in Portland 
township very suddenly of heart disease on the 28th inst., she having been 
sick but a half hour. The funeral services were conducted from the Catholic 
church on Monday of this week and were largely attended, and burial was made 
in the Catholic cemetery on the west side.  Deceased had been a resident of 
Portland for many years, and leaves a husband and a family of grown-up 
children.
