June was born to Ted and Marian (Coon) Hampel on St. Patrick’s Day, 1930. Her favorite color was green. She graduated from Woodland High School in 1948. June married Richard “Dick” C. Morlok on June 8, 1951. June was a creative person who could make magic in the kitchen or with a sewing machine. She could whip up an award winning Halloween costume or an elaborate wedding cake with ease. She was a great caregiver to young and old and always a champion of the underdog. She unofficially adopted and loved many over the years. In her early married life she worked on the line at Mitchell Bentley, always volunteering to be lid off to spend time with her girls. She loved to watch the birds and deer from the kitchen window of the home they built in the woods. June was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda Begerow; and her husband of 50 years, Richard. She is survived by her daughters, Lorrie (David) Casarez and their son Taylor Casarez of Hastings, and Cyndee Hesche of Saranac, her daughter Holly Hesche of Zeeland; brothers, Bruce (Evelyn) Hampel of Rodney, and Keith (Priscilla) Hampel; sister, Joy Blakely; and brother -in-law, Charles Begerow all of Lake Odessa. Also surviving are her lifelong best friend, Marilyn Dahms, of Lansing, and Norma Keefer Hobbs, honorary daughter, of Bellevue, WA. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of remembrance and celebration of June’s life will be held at Ever Lasting Banquet Hall, 1230 Michigan Ave., Hastings from 1 to 3. Private graveside services will be held at Woodland Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.
