Morrice, who has been making his home for some time with his sister, Mrs. Oscar Crane, south of Lyons, died Sunday, May 9, aged 73 years. Deceased was born in North Plains township March 21, 1847. May 31, 1885, he was married to Miss Ella Lance of Mt. Pleasant, who preceded him in death by just one week. Mr. Morrice was a prominent farmer of Emmett county and had been representative for three terms; was county treasurer for twelve years, two years as register of deeds and had served many terms as supervisor. He graduated from the Michigan Agricultural College with the class of 1873. He is survived by one daughter, Eileen Speers of Grand Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Oscar Crane of Lyons; two brothers, Geo. Morrice of St. Johns and John H. Morrice of Seattle, Wash. Funeral services were conducted from the Crane farm home Monday afternoon by Rev. Chas. Nease, and the body was taken to Harbor Springs for burial beside his wife.
