Edith M. Morris, 88, of Greenville, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 
20, 2004 at United Memorial Health Center, Greenville.  

The daughter of Firman and Maude Hardy Hess, she was born May 11, 1915, in 
Plainwell.  On September 20, 1930, in Michigan Center, Indiana, she married 
James Homer Morris.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Morris, on December 2, 1990; 
son, Phillip G. Morris, in August 1991; and two brothers, James Arthur Hess and 
Roland Elmer Hess.

She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, Billy L and Wanda 
Morris of Cedar Springs, James Homer Jr. and Josephine Morris of Rockford, 
Rosemary Morris of Greenville; sister, Patsy Oliver of Benton Harbor; siblings-
in-law, Marcia Hess of Pierson, Inez and Byron Welsh of Eagle, Phyllis Stearns 
of Sheridan, Alice and Robert Childs of Belding, Caroline and Forrest Sage of 
Sheridan, Earle Morris of Greenville, Wilmer and Ruby Morris, Frederick and 
Maxine Morris, all of Sheridan, Wayne and Marian Morris of Orleans, Robert and 
Elizabeth Morris of Howard City; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and 
a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral and committal services are 1 p.m. Friday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen 
Funeral Home, Greenville, with Gilbert Morris officiating.  Private interment 
will follow in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.  Envelopes for memorial 
contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association are available at the funeral home, 
where the family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. 
today.
