Aug.8,2018 FREDERICK B. MORRIS A depression era farm boy, WW II D-Day Veteran, and from the Greatest Generation, Frederick B. Morris passed away peacefully, August 3, 2018, with his children at his side. Born to Glen and Irene (Alderink) Morris October 19, 1920, in Orleans, MI. Fred was the eldest of three sons. He graduated from Belding High school in 1938 and proudly served his country in WW II, landing on Utah Beach, June 6, 1944, D-day. Upon returning to the United States, Fred fulfilled his dream to farm and raise beef cattle. Fred contributed to his community in many ways. He served on the Lake Odessa Fair board and as president 37 years. He served on the board of directors for the Michigan Association of Fairs and Exhibitions (MAFE) and as president in 1985. In 2016, Fred was inducted in the MAFE Hall of Fame. Fred loved Fairs and was instrumental in the construction of many buildings that now stand at the Lake Odessa Fair grounds. Fred also won the 1962 national Corn Picking Championship in Grand Island, Nebraska representing Ford Motor Company.
