Shirley Jean Morris, age 92, passed away on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at her residence
in Green Acres, Ionia, Michigan.  She was born on March 18, 1923, to Dwight and
Laura (Compton) Kitch in Boston, MA.

Shirley lived most of her youth in Wyoming and attended nursing school in Billings,
MT.  After her schooling she joined the military and served as World War II 2nd Lt.
Nurse in the Army serving in the Philippines and Japan.  She married Kenneth Morris
on Dec. 24, 1949.  She went to work in Ionia Hospital as a registered nurse until
Kenneth decided that she was the best help he could find on the farm and convinced
her to become a farmer with him.  In her later years, she became a prolific reader.

Shirley is survived by a sister, Gwendolyn Holsinger from Spokane, WA; a brother
Stan (Joan) Kitch from Newago, MI; brother-in-law Fred Morris of Lake Odessa, MI;
sister-in-laws Fran Morris of Lake Odessa, MI and Eleanor Morris of Grand Rapids,
MI; close friends Jim and Diane Alderink, Bob and Linda Jenkins and Arnie and Lois
Wilber; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by, her parents, husband Kenneth Morris and brother-in-law
Glen Morris.

Visitation for Shirley will be held at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, MI on
Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, from 10 to 11 a.m.  Funeral service will also be held at
Koops Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karen Sorden
officiating.  Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Ionia County or
Central United Methodist Church, Lake Odessa, MI.
