Morrison, Died Friday Born Near Present Home 82 Years Ago and Lived All His Life Within Five Miles of the City. John E. Morrison, one of the oldest and best known residents of Ionia county, passed away at his home in South Ionia Friday morning at the age of 82 years. Mr. Morrison had lived all his life within five miles of the city of Ionia and had always been deeply interested in everything that was for the betterment of the city. Mr. Morrison had been failing rapidly … [unreadable lines] … Bellevue road used to cut down through near the Ionia state hospital. Practically all of his young manhood was spent in that locality. Mr. Morrison and family lived for many years in Berlin township. Seventeen years ago they moved to the present family home in South Ionia. Mr. Morrison was a school director for several years in Berlin township, and has been for years a director in the State Saving bank. Mr. and Mrs. Morrison had been married 54 years ago last November. He is survived by his widow and four children: Mrs. May Woodmansee, of San Antonio, Tex.; Mrs. Nellie Patrick, Amasa Morrison, and John Morrison, all of Berlin township. His sister, Mrs. Anna Beardsley, resides in Grand Rapids. The funeral will be held from the late home in South Ionia Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Mrs. Arthur, of Ann Arbor, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Saranac cemetery.
