The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Monday, January 8, 1880
Mrs. John E. Morrison, Sen, died Tuesday afternoon at Stanton, at the 
residence of her daughter.  The funeral will be this morning at 10:30 o’clock 
from her late residence on the south side of Grand River.  Mrs. Morrison was 
with her husband among the earliest settlers of this part of Ionia County.  We 
are not advised of the year when the family settled here, but the oldest 
inhabitants of Ionia will remember the family as living on the old Morrison 
farm when this village consisted of only a few scattered homes.
