Mrs. Christina Morse died yesterday morning at the home of her son, Joseph Morse, at the age of 86 years. She expired at the exact hour and date that her husband died thirty-one years ago. Mrs. Morse was born in Germany, coming to this country when she was twenty-two years old. She located in Washtenaw county and was married there to the late Thomas J. Morse. They came to Portland in 1854 and settled on the old farm north of the village. She is survived by five children - Joseph, Henry and Charles of Portland, Mrs. Agnes Hatinger of Edmore and Mrs. Mary Allchin of McBrides. All are here for the funeral, which will be at the home tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock. --- Lyons Herald, June 23, 1910 Mrs. Christine Morse, step-mother of Postmaster Morse, died at the home of her son Joseph, near Portland, Monday, aged 86 years.
