Morse, 85, the mother of Mayor E. V. and Fred McNally, passed away at the home of the latter, 703 Morton avenue, early Saturday morning. Ellen G. Bowles McNally Morse was born in Eastford, Connecticut and resided in the east until 13 years ago when she came to this city. For about 7 years she lived alone but since has divided her time at the homes of her sons. She was a very remarkable old lady and was in exceptional good health until about 5 weeks ago. During her residence in this city she had been active in the social affairs of her immediate neighborhood and the activities of the Congregational church and its several departments. Mrs. Morse was also prominent in church circles in the east, having served as Sunday school superintendent for many years. The father of her children, Robt. J. McNally, died 38 years ago. A son, William, also passed away at Fort Robinson, Nebraska in 1911. The remaining members of the family circle are Mayor E. V. McNally of this city; Harry D. of Worcester, Massachusetts; Fred S. of Belding, and Robert E. of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The second husband, P. W. Morse, has also preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the Fred McNally home on Tuesday afternoon August 13 at 2:30. Rev. H. S. Ellis, former pastor of the Congregational church, officiated and burial was in River Ridge cemetery. The many lovely floral tributes bespoke the admiration felt for Mrs. Morse, who during her comparatively short residence here had made a host of friends who mourn her death.
