Lake Odessa – A lifelong resident of Lake Odessa area, Mrs. Nellie M. Morse, 
91, widow of Dr. Frederick Lee Morse, died Wednesday afternoon at Fairlane 
Memorial Rest home in Detroit.  She had been a patient there the past ten 
months.

She was born December 6, 1876 in Sebewa township, daughter of George and 
Mahala Whaley High and a graduate of Portland high school.  She taught school 
in Sebewa and Sunfield before marrying Dr. Morse June 21, 1900.  In 1902 she 
moved to Lake Odessa and has been a resident there since.  

A member of United Methodist church she also belonged to the WSCS and Adult 
Fellowship of the church.  She was a member of the Lake Odessa chapter OES and 
Lake Odessa Women’s club.  Her husband preceded her in death in May 1923 and 
her son, a long time Lake Odessa dentist, died in July 1963.  Surviving are a 
daughter Mrs. Frances LeLonde of Detroit; three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens funeral Chapel at 
Lake Odessa with committal services at the funeral home.  Rev. Marvin 
Zimmerman will officiate and burial will be at Lakeside cemetery.
