Mr. Morse had been ill about a year but his last bout was of a short duration. He was (illegible) years of age, November 20 being his birthday, and has been a resident of Ionia county since a lad of (illegible) when he came to Michigan from (illegible) at Orangeville, Wyoming County, New York. He lived on a farm in Orleans when he first came to Ionia county, and worked on the farm during the summer time until commencement of the Civil war. August (illegible) he enlisted in the war and was discharged August 10 (illegible). On December 2, 1865 he was married to Miss Mary E. (illegible). Besides the widow he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nora M. Taggart, and two sons, Harvey Lute of Detroit, and Charles M. of Ionia. One daughter, Mrs. Jennie Hall, died several years ago. He is commander of the G.A.R. post. Mr. Morse farmed in the county for 26 years and for 12 years was employed at the Michigan Reformatory. He was then a mail carrier for five years.
