Ella U. Mortensen, 84, of 800 Chapman St., died Tuesday evening at her 
residence.  She was born Jan. 1, 1896 in Erin Township, Ontario, the daughter 
of Mr. and Mrs. John Wheeler.

She was married Sept. 28, 1915 in Chicago to Renold Mortensen.  He died Sept. 
20, 1977.  She lived most of her married life in Lansing and was a resident of 
Ionia the past 13 years.  She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by one son, Robert Mortensen, of Big Rapids; two daughters, 
Mrs. Gladys Martin of Ionia and Mrs. May Huels of Lansing; eight grandchildren 
and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Myers-Roetman Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Nolan Williams officiating.  Burial will be in Lyons 
Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 
7-9 p.m.
