Ionia – Renold R. Mortensen, 81, of 800 Chapman, died early Tuesday morning at 
Ionia County Memorial hospital.  He was born March 5, 1896, in Tyler, 
Minnesota, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mortensen.

He married the former Ella Wheeler in Chicago September 28, 1915 and they lived 
most of their married life in the Lansing area, the past 10 years in the Ionia 
area.

He was employed as a car salesman in Lansing and was a member of the Masonic 
lodge of Ionia.

Survivors include his wife; one son Robert of Big Rapids; two daughters Mrs. 
Gladys Martin of Ionia and Mrs. May Huels of East Lansing; one brother Harold 
of Breedsville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Myers-Roetman funeral home with burial 
in Lyons cemetery.  The family will receive friends and relatives at the 
funeral home Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
