The Ionia Standard, Friday, May 1, 1885

Mr. James Morton departed this life on the 24th inst., aged 43 years.  His 
wife and three children survive him.  Mr. Morton was a soldier in the late war 
and contracted a disease while there which resulted in his death.  The funeral 
services were held at the Town hall on Sunday, conducted by Elder Woodward.
