December 31, 2012 Excerpts from Greenville Obituary Edsel "Ed" Moss Died Friday December 28, 2012-age 83 at Grand Rapids Hospital. Born July 11, 1929, in Flint, son of Fred L.and Lottie A.(Passmore) Moss. Ed was a teacher in many ways, having taught in Blanchard & Belding, retiring in 1980. An Avid Sports Fan, Ed coached many High school sports, including Tennis, baseball, track & basketball. In 1977 ed was named "Coach of the Year" by the Grand Rapids Press for Tennis. Also was inducted into the Michigan Athletics Association Coaches "Hall of Fame" in 1991. A Veteran of the U.S. Army during Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post #203 in Belding, the United Methodist Church, Belding & the Gideons. He was married March 20, 1954 to Mary Ann Paulson, who preceded him in death in June 1977. Also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Moss; a sister, Caroline Moss. In October 1977 he married LaVonne Warner of Belding. Survived by wife, LaVonne Moss; his children, Christy (Emile) Borne of Texas, Robert (Julie)Moss of Yarmouth, Maine, Janet (Scott) Weston of Rockford; and LaVonne's children, Dennis (Kelly) Zander of Belding, & Larry (Kimberly) Zander of Belding; as well as 17 grandchildren & 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral & committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday aJan.2 at the United Methodist Church, Belding. Pastors Than Johnson and Connie Shatz officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Belding, or to the Greenville Parkinson's Support Group.
