August 4, 1916 DAVID A MOTE IS CALLED TO REST WAS WELL-KNOWN RESIDENT OF LAKE ODESSA: LEAVES FOUR CHILDREN D.A. Mote, proprietor of a shoe repairing shop here, and a well-known and respected resident of this place, died Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs.James Rogers, after a long siege of typhoid fever. The funeral was held in the Radical U.B. Church here in the village, and interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. C. C Grisso of the Brethren Church west of town preached the sermon, and music was furnished by the Brethren church choir. OBITUARY David Anderson Mote was born April 2, 11850, in the state of Ohio, and died July 30, 1916, age 66 years, 3 months, 28 days. He was married to Sarah Manda Shopbell, February 22, 1873, she having preceded him to the home of the soul on February 14, 1916. To them were born four children: Mr.Irene Mosey of Lake Odessa, Mrs.Anna Stocker of Lansing, Mrs. Cassie Wilcox of Battle Creek, and Mr.Andie Mote of Lansing. Besides the four children he is survived by two sisters, two brothers and six grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Brethren church from the time of its organization until the Lord took him, he being one of the seven charter members of the local Brethren church. He loved the church and was especially loyal to its distinctive teachings and ordinances. On July 28, 1916, although his body was scorching with fever, he called for the sacred rite of anointing with oil in the name of the Lord. He died a Christian.
