The death of Enoch S. Moulton which occurred at his home on Congress St. in 
this city at 2:30 o’clock Tuesday morning could hardly be said to have been 
unexpected.  For many years he has been a great sufferer from asthma and other 
diseases contracted while in the army. About three or four weeks ago he 
suffered a very bad spell which it was thought he could hardly survive.  He 
did however, although there were many signs that dissolution was not far away, 
and he finally passed away Tuesday morning as a tired child goes to its rest 
or as a machine stops for want of further power to propel it.

Mr. Moulton was born at Sandwich, N.Y., March 6, 1832, and had therefore 
reached the allotted age of three score and ten and a few days over.  He came 
to Michigan in 1856, locating first at Plymouth, near Detroit.  He served his 
country during the great civil war, enlisting in 1863, and was with Sherman on 
his famous march to the sea.  He moved to what is now the city of Belding in 
1872 and has resided here continuously since.

He was a man who took much interest in public matters, but owing to poor 
health was not able to take a very active part in the same.  He leaves a widow 
and five children, all residents of Belding: Mrs. Emma Lamb, Miss Clara 
Moulton, Eugene, Elmer and Geo. W. Moulton.  

The funeral services are held from the residence this (Thursday) afternoon at 
2 o’clock and Dr. I. S. Morris will officiate by request of the deceased.
