He was born March 7, 1933 in Eagle, MI, on the old homestead to Bruce and Helen (Bolk) Moyer. Bill graduated from Portland high School in 1951 and then joined the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Lindenwald for four years. After returning home from the service, he worked as a rural mail carrier out of Eagle and then became the Post Master. He became a journey man plumber and then a master plumber and worked for local 388 in Lansing MI. Then he went to work for the State of Michigan as a plumbing inspector and then as head of the Plumbing Division. When he retired he was the executive director of the Bureau of construction Codes for the State of Michigan. In 1955 Bill married Jacqueline McCaffrey and they raised a family of five children; son, Mark (Mary) Moyer of Sunfield and 4 daughters; Nanci Moyer of Grand Rapids, Margo (Dan) Spohn of Williamston, Dr. Monica Johnson of St. Johns, and Brenda Moyer of Onondaga. They have 11 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Jackie of 62 years, sister Betty Stephenson of Lake City and special friend, Doc Westjohn of Mason, Bill was a proud member of the American legion and the VFW. He and Jackie spent 26 winters on the Gulf coast of Alabama; playing golf, going to the casinos, and playing bingo at the Elks with many of their snowbird friends. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will take place at a later date where his ashes will be buried in the North Eagle cemetery. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Eagle Cemetery Society, c/o Pat Mitchell, 5772, Keeney Dr.,Six Lakes, Mi. 48886 Grand Ledge. The family is being served at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.
