The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, May 31, 1955
Funeral services for Edson H. Mudge, 94, retired Grand Rapids and Belding 
printer, who died at Clark Memorial Home Sunday will be held at the home 
Tuesday at 10 a.m.  Burial will be at River Ridge cemetery at Belding.  

Mr. Mudge became an employee of a Belding newspaper at the age of 20 and 
purchased the Belding Star in 1890, publishing that paper for four years.  He 
then went to the Ionia Daily Standard as foreman for the next four years and 
for two years was in newspaper work in Lyons.  He later operated newspapers at 
St. Johns, Ionia, Ashley and Belding.

He moved to Grand Rapids where he worked as a proof reader and later was in 
the printing business in Detroit.  He then bought and published another paper 
at Belding.  He moved to Clark Memorial Home in 1938 following the death of 
his wife.
