He had been hospitalized for four days but had been in ill health for several years. He was born in Odessa township, and his parents were Wm. and Ameratta Muir. He married Bertha DeMaranville of Lake Odessa on October 19, 1899 and they lived in this area until moving to Florida where they spent 14 yrs. returning here in 1946. Mr. Muir was Past Commander no. 22 of St. Cloud, Florida and of the Frederick Funston Camp, member of the Captain Frank D. Curtis Camp no. 35 of Ionia. Surviving are his wife Bertha M.; one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Lavinia) Wood of Nashville; one son, Carlisle of Beaverton; a half sister, Mrs. Minnie Babock of Lansing; and 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pickens funeral chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. Dr. william Helrigel of the Hastings Methodist church officiated.
