Lake Odessa Wave - January 10, 1963
           FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
   Funeral services were held for Mrs. Bertha May Muir, 85, former local resident at
the Leonard Funeral Home 
at Hastings, December 31 with burial in Lakeside cemetery.  Mrs. Muir passed away
Saturday at 12:15 a.m. at 
the McDowell Nursing Home at Hastings where she had been residing for several
months.
   A native of Nebraska, she came to Lake Odessa with her parents John and Phebe
DeMaranville when she 
was sixteen years old.  She married Andrew Muir, October 19, 1899 at Lake Odessa and
they had lived at 
Midland, St. Cloud, Florida and Hastings returning here in 1946.  They celebrated
their 60th wedding 
anniversary in 1959 and Mr. Muir, a Spanish American War veteran, passed away in
1960.
   Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wood resided with her mother at their home here before
returning to Hastings.
   Surviving are the daughter, Lavinia (Mrs. Wood); a son Carlisle of Beaverton;
five grandchildren and six 
great grandchildren.
