His father died in 1932 and his mother in 1982. His first wife, Dorothy (Rinks) Mulder preceded him in death in 1982 and his sister, Katherine VanderTuin in 2004, and brother-in-law, Neil VanderTuin in 2003 and a son-in- law, Larry Gensterblum in 1998. Surviving are Albert's wife, Alyce of Portland; son, Marinus (Lucy) Mulder of Portland; daughters, Janet Gensterblum of Portland, Eleanor Canaquire of Lansing, and Donna (Vic) Trierweiler of Traverse City. There are ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; his sister, Marion Lantinga of Grand Rapids; stepchildren, Virginia (John) Williford of Texas, George (Terri) Durak, Gary Durak both of Michigan, and Eric (Ruth) Durak of California; five step grandchildren; there are many nieces and nephews, and special neighbors and friends Jerry and Cindy Selden and cousin, Charles and Ellie DeVries of Arroyo, CA. Mr. Mulder was a building contractor in the Portland area for 57 years retiring in 1993, and was active in the Portland Boy Scouts for 15 years. He was active in the Community Players Theatre, Portland Chamber of Commerce, and served in the 13th Air Force in WWII in the South Pacific and is a member of the VFW Post #4090 in Portland. Albert is also noted for his handcrafted candlesticks and walking canes and helping people with building advice and projects. There will be a memorial service at the First Congregational Church of Portland with Rev. Craig Trierweiler officiating at 11 a.m., Saturday. Contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 421 E. Bridge St., Portland. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
