Mumford died at the home of his son-in-law, Mark Hoppough, near Smyrna, Saturday, aged 57 years, of pneumonia. Mr. Mumford was born in the state of New York and was a miller by trade, having worked in large mills in Baltimore, Grand Rapids and Greenville. He also was interested in the Smyrna mill in the early days. He joined the order of Maccabees at Lakeview while living there and was a member of the order at death, leaving an insurance of $1,500. He became totally disabled for work a few years ago and had drawn $500 of the insurance which was originally $2,000. Mrs. Mark Hoppough, his daughter, survives him. Rev. D. E. Hills preached the funeral sermon Monday and interment took place at Greenville.
