Sentinel-Std. - Friday, Feb. 1, 1985 

IONIA- Janet R. Munday, 65, of Ionia, died Thursday evening at Ionia County 
Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Belding on June 29, 1919, the daughter of Herbert and Hilah 
Yourie Sowles.

She attended schools in Belding and was graduated from Belding High School with 
the class of 1937.

She was married on August 29, 1937, in Merrill, to Robert T. Munday. They made 
their home in Battle Creek until moving to Belding in 1944. For the past 10 
years they have made their home in Ionia.

She had been employed at the Jolley Kidd Garment Company in Belding, and then 
worked in the kitchen at Ionia High School and for the past 21  years has been 
employed in the dietary department at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.

She had recently retired, but was working part time at the hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of Ionia; one son, Robert Jr. of St. 
Joseph, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Wilfedo (Barbara) Opadaco of Alexandria, Va.; 
four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy 
Haven of Belding.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral 
Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating.

Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Ionia County Memorial Hospital, in care 
of the Leddick Funeral Home.

The family will be at the funeral home Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. 
to 9 p.m.
