William C. Mundt, 73, of 811 West Lincoln Avenue died at 9:30 pm Sunday at the 
Ionia County memorial hospital where he was a medical patient for one week.  
He was born Jan. 29, 1876, in Niagara County, N. Y., son of August and Augusta 
Mundt.  He moved to Ionia in 1921 from Carson City.  He worked as a guard at 
the reformatory for many years until about 5 years ago when he retired.  He 
was also a carpenter by trade.  He was married in 1903 at Petoskey.

Surviving are two sons, Stanley of Spruce Lake, Ont., and Robert of 
Leavenworth, Kans.: three daughters, Mrs. Helen Higelmire of Carson City, Mrs. 
Esther Watkins of Traverse City and Margaret Mundt of Ionia, three 
grandchildren; one brother, Charles of McMillan; and three sisters, Mrs. 
Helena Wharton of Chicago and Mrs. Mamie Shafer and Mrs. Alma Weeks of Hart.

Funeral services will be held at the Boynton funeral home Wednesday, Nov. 16, 
at 1 pm.  The Rev. George L. Rentschler will officiate.  Interment will be in 
Bloomer Center cemetery, Montcalm County.
