The Grand Rapids Herald, Saturday, December 21, 1918


There were eight deaths in Grand Rapids Friday from pneumonia and Spanish 
influenza.  Those who died of these diseases are Sophia Hornick, one month 
old, of the St. John’s Orphanage; Harry E. Davis, 29 years old, 400 Bridge 
Street, NW.; Mrs. Victoria Sadoski, 30 years old, 653 Seventh street NW; 
Esther, 15 years old, daughter of Charles Mundy, 627 Third street, NW; Emmett 
Tatroe, 31 years old of 1046 Worden street, SE; Mrs. Mamie Thompson, 30 years 
old, Rathbun avenue; Mrs. Clara Fletcher, 58 years old, of Coopersville, who 
died at 563 Broadway avenue, NW; and Maylon E. Fluhper, 26 years old, 941 
Baldwin street, SE.  New cases of influenza reported number 84 and there were 
six new pneumonia cases.
