Mrs. Peter Munger died at her home near Ionia Saturday, October 9, after a long 
and painful illness. She was well known in this vicinity, having spent her 
whole life here until a few years ago when they removed to their farm near 
Ionia. She leaves to mourn her loss besides a host of friends, a husband, four 
brothers, two sisters, one son and one daughter.



FUNERAL IS POSTPONED AT GRAVE

CEMETERY LOT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY SOLD ANND DOUBLE OWNERSHIP NOT Discovered 
Until Remains of Mrs. Peter Munger Arrive at Cemetery – Burial Takes Place in 
Fenwick Cemetery.

Instead of burying the remains of Mrs. Peter Munger in Oak Hill cemetery as 
originally planned, the funeral party drove to Fenwick after dinner Tuesday and 
burial was there. An unfortunate circumstance, causing the change in plans and 
added to the sorrow of the party. It was found upon arrival at Oak Hill 
cemetery, where the grave had been prepared and everything in readiness, that 
the cemetery lot which Mr. Munger had just purchased, had years ago been sold 
to Chas. Brooks who is the present owner.

A misunderstanding of some kind led to the double sale and it was not 
discovered until the preparations for Mrs. Munger’s burial had been completed. 
Mr. Munger formerly lived in Fenwick.
