IONIA-  Richard L. Munschy, 53. pf Bates Road in rural Ionia, suffered a heart 
attack at home on April 3 and was pronounced dead at Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital. 

He was born Nov. 11, 1929 in Bakersville, Calif., the son of Albert and Maxine 
(Lynch) Munschy.

He graduated from Samgor High School in California and attended Fresno State 
College before moving to Michigan where he attended and graduated from Ferris 
State College in 1950 with a B.S. in Pharmacy.

He married Connie A. McGeehan on Nov. 23, 1950 in Big Rapids, then moved to 
Ionia.

Over the years, Mr. Munschy was pharmacist for Max Koss Rexall Drugs, Ionia 
Hospital, Ionia State Hospital and at the time of his death, Riverside 
Correctional Facility. He also served as a preceptor for the Ferris State 
College of Pharmacy.

He was a member of the Ferris State College Alumni Association, the Michigan 
Pharmaceutical Association and the Michigan Hospital Pharmaceutical Association.

Mr. Munschy is survived by his wife, Connie, three sons, Richard of Lansing, and 
Andrew and Carl of Ionia; three daughters, Mrs. Karl (Marsha) Bly of Holland, 
Mrs. Mitchel (Gail) Gillons of Woodland and Catherine of Royal Oak; a 
stepfather, Isaac Marsh of Grand Ledge; a stepmother, Doris Munschy of San Luis 
Obispo; a brother, David of Grand Ledge; a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Patricia) 
Graybill of San Luis Obispo, and two grandchildren. 

Services were held on April 5 at the Saints Peer and Paul Church with Father 
Henry Dondzilla officiating. A scriptural wake service held April 4 at the 
Leddick Funeral Home.

Burial was in Tuttle Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Ferris State College Pharmacy and left at the 
funeral home.
