The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, September 8, 1970

Leo Murphy, 72, of 14903 West Howe road, Portland, died Thursday at St. 
Lawrence hospital, Lansing.  He was a retired job superintendent at Granger 
Brothers Construction company of Lansing over 30 years.

Besides his wife, Dorothea, he leaves two sons, Leo C. of Eagle, and Lyle of 
Mahalapye, Botswana, Africa; daughter, Patricia Murphy of Hastings; four 
grandchildren; one sister, Lula Murphy of Portland a brother, Allison of Mesa, 
Ariz.

Funeral services were Tiesdau at 1 p.m. at Neller funeral home in Portland.  
Mr. Murphy’s nephew, Rev. Vernon Belew of Ottawa, Kans., officiated and 
interment was at North Eagle cemetery.  Bearers were Richard Atherton, Ellis 
Oxendale, Richard, Dorr and Keith Granger and Allen VerPlanck.
