July 31, 2019 ROBERT MURPHY, 81 Robert B. Murphy, 81 of Saranac, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019. He was born on Nov. 1, 1937 in Grand Rapids the son of Norman and Ma Damia (Peck) Murphy. Bob's parents passed at an early age and he was raised by his grandmother, Louise Dausman Peck. He married Ruth Liggett on Sept. 1, 1995. He worked as a salesman for Kraft for 20 years and another 20 on his own in sales. Bob was a member of Pathway-A Wesleyan Church and in earlier years, Jaycees in Saranac. He loved watching sports, photography and gardening. Surviving Bob are his loving wife of 25 years, Ruth Murphy of Saranac, children Renee (Frank) Bellavia of Atlanta, GA., Rand (Kelly) Murphy of Ada, Ryan (Peggy) Murphy of Grosse Pointe and Rory (Stephanie) Murphy of Kalamazoo; grandchildren Ally Bellavia of Atlanta, Mallory Murphy and fiance' Seth Layman of Ada, Sarah Murphy of Ada, Katie Murphy of Indianapolis, Elizabeth Murphy of Grosse Pointe, Amelia Murphy of Kalamazoo and Lily Murphy of Kalamazoo; step-children Mary Ruth (Michael) Kaper of Rockford, James (Amy) Liggett of Rockford and Kathryn Batchelder of Okemos; step- grandchildren Logan Kasper of Rockford, Lauren Kasper of Rockford, Darrick Liggett of Rockford, Jared Liggett of Rockford, Kaden Liggett of Rockford and Ash Batchelder of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, at noon at Pathway-A Wesleyan Church with Pastor Mark Lipscomb and Pastor Jason Holdridge officiating. Interment Mennonite cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service oat the church. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Saranac First responders or Pathway-A Wesleyan church.
