Miss Murphy was a graduate of the Portland High School, completing her studies at Olivet College, after which she entered upon her life work as a teacher. Bring a thorough, earnest worker, she was successful in her profession; and of the seven years of her teaching, the last year’s work was in Pewamo schools. Among her accomplishments were those of music and painting. Consumption withered her young life, and after an illness of six months, Feb. 20th, 1894, she fell asleep, to awake with the angels. Although a member of no church, she was a consciencious, practical, Christian, and we feel assured that she rests in the bosom of Infinite Love. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Geo. Ransom from the family residence on the afternoon of Feb. 22nd, when loving hands tenderly laid her in her white casket covered with lilies and roses—emblamatic of her pure young life—friends took the last, long, lingering look of love and affection, and laid her forever at rest in the Lyons cemetery. To the bereaved father and mother, brothers and sister, we would say, morn not for one who is happy in Heaven.
