Lived In Danby Since A Lad

Thomas J. Murtha Located There With Widowed Mother at Age of 15 years.

Funeral services for Thomas J. Murtha were held at the late home in Danby 
township last Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Henry Simpson, of the 
Episcopal church, of Lansing.  Interment in Danby cemetery.  Mr. Murtha was 
born in Portland township, May 15, 1858.  At the age of 15 years he settled in 
Danby with his widowed mother, where both made their home until death, the 
mother passing away in 1894.  Mr. Murtha never married, his sisters, Mary and 
Harriet Murtha, making their home with him since the mother’s death.  Besides 
the two sisters named above Mr. Murtha is survived by three others, Mrs. Amelia 
Lapham, O’Neil, Neb.; Mrs. A. A. Edge, Trenton, N.J.; Mrs. Charles Rozell, 
Grand Rapids, Mich.
