Mutch Sr., 85 of Lake Odessa, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Thornapple Manor in Hastings. He was born Oct 3, 1925 in Muir, the son of Alexander and Viola (Smith) Mutch. He married Velma Frost in 1945 and had celebrated 65 years of marriage. Mr. Mutch was a lifelong farmer and together with his wife was inducted into the Farmers Hall of Fame in 1996. He attended Calvary United Brethren Church in Lake Odessa. Mr. Mutch was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Mutch Jr.; great grandson, Aberin; brothers –in-law, Jack Frost, Donald Schelter and Jack Baxter; and sister-in-law, Alta Mae Frost. Surviving is his wife, Velma; daughter, Jane (John) Cook of Lake Odessa; son, Jack (Mary) Mutch of Lake Odessa; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister, Melva Baxter of East Lansing; brother- in-law, Frank Frost Jr. of Lake Odessa; brother-in-law, Jesse (Bonnie) Frost of Portland; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Schelter of Lake Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at noon on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Jackson-Mutschler VFW Post #4461, 3600 W. Tupper Lake Road, Lake Odessa. The family will have gathered for a private graveside service.
