MYERS Duane Keith Myers was a wonderful man whose story began with his birth on a little farm outside Lake Odessa in 1935. His beautiful parents Murray Myers and Eleanor (Wilson) Myers gave him two little sisters, Carol Jean in 1937 and Marilyn Kay in 1939. Duane enlisted in the Navy upon his graduation in 1953 and served there years. He was stationed at Great Lakes, in Tennessee Moffitt Airfield in California and Ascension Island in the Pacific. He worked for Kenyon's Radio and TV in Lake Odessa Michigan until he acquired a job with the government (Federal Aviation administration) which took him to Florida, Arizona and the White Sands Missile Range in new Mexico. While he was in Alamogordo, NM he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Warner in 1964. He later transferred to Albuquerque, NM which became his forever home. Duane had many technical skills which opened opportunities for him to be chosen for several important assignments. He was very passionate about the work that he did. Some of his favorite jobs were working with contractors at the Atlantic Missile Range, The White Sands Missile Range on precision missile radars and as a satellite controller at the NASA facility in Fairbanks Alaska. Duane's special work as assignments sparked his love to travel. He traveled often throughout his retirement, But Alaska was always his favorite, so he returned over a dozen times. He also had an amazing gift for photography. He took beautiful photographs and videos of his travels to share with family and friends over the years. We all felt that Duane and Carolyn were ur personal tour guide to the places we have never traveled to because of the videos they would put together after each trip with their voiceover narrations of the scenery. Some of our favorite memories include the whole family sitting together to watch the videos together during their trips home to Michigan. Duane was a selfless, caring, gentle man with a great sense of humor. He loved to make us laugh. He was one in a million and is incredibly missed already. Duane was preceded in death by his parents,Murray and Eleanor Myer; his sister, Carol Stadel, and his loving wife Carolyn. He is survived by his sister,Marilyn (Donald) Haskins of Woodland; nephew, Mike (Cathy) Haskins of Woodland; nieces,Lori Shepard of grand Ledge, Judi (Glenn) Desgranges of Lake Odessa and many great nieces and nephews. The family will be holding a small private memorial for Duane at a later date. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Duane's memory. He lovingly cared for his wife Carolyn for many years during her fight with diabetes.
