(Smith) Nead, 72, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Ionia, passed away on April 19, 2011. There are no services planned. Loretta was born on Sept. 4, 1939 in Ionia to Mary and Kenneth Smith. Loretta graduated from Chic University in Grand Rapids in 1969, started her career as a cosmologist with Douglas J’s in Okemos, she had her own shop in Perry in the ‘70’s. She moved to Naples, Fla., in 1979 and continued her profession while going to college for computer systems. Loretta also had a cattery featuring Prussians. She enjoyed showing her animals for a number of years. About 1983 she started working with BCB Construction in Naples, Fla., as a data entry clerk, program specialist and other computer systems operations for 12 years. She retired in 1995, and started her own business Sukie Bows. Making hand sewed custom bows for dog and cat fanciers as well as doll collectors. Loretta and Richard sold their home in Naples, and spent the last five years traveling through the western United States as part of the Working Camper Program visiting many states, but enjoyed Wyoming the most. They worked as a team for a few years at Boysen State Park in Thermopolis, Wyo. Loretta is survived by a loving husband of 55 years, Richard G. Nead Sr. (formerly of Saranac); children Teresa A. (Nead) Heise of Perry, Richard G. Nead Jr. of Naples, Fla., and Robin L. Nead of Naples, Fla.; sister, Sandy (Smith) Borseth of Lansing; brothers, Walt and Kathy (Nead) Powell of Saranac, Dennis and Nancy Nead of Saranac, and Ron and Rose Nead of Lowell; grandchildren; Austin and Angela (Dunham) Olmstead of Princeton, Maine, Chuck and autumn (Dunham) Huffman of Moran, and Richard G. Nead III. of Naples, Fla.; great grandchildren, Zachery and Haley Olmstead, Charles and Leonard Huffman, and Eva Nead; and many other family members and friends. Loretta is predeceased by her sister, Wynona Dyer, and parents, Kenneth and Mary Smith.
