Betty was born in Charlotte, on June 20, 1920 to Joseph and Jessie (Clafflin) Norris. She was united in marriage to Max Ovenshire on December 31, 1939. Following her husband’s ordination in the ministry, they served United Brethren churches in Corunna, Ind., Woodland and Kilpatrick, Pleasant Valley and Freeport, Lowell, Clare and Hastings, Mich. Rev. Ovenshire died on Jan. 15, 1970. Betty was married to Floyd Neeb in the late 1970s, and he also preceded her in death. Betty was proud to have graduated from Lakewood High School in 1979. She loved her nicknames, “Joybells” and “Grace.” Betty is survived by her sons, Darrell (Carol) Ovenshire of Detroit, and James Ovenshire of Fla.; 6 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren; brother, Wilford “Bill” Norris; the extended Neeb family; and all of the “adopted” children and grandchildren she loved through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Rev. Max Ovenshire and Floyd Neeb; daughters, Kay Diane Ovenshire and Rebecca J. Ovenshire Flowers; grandson, Joshua Ryan Willette; sisters, Ella Satterley, Mable Wakley, and Josephine Davidson; and brothers, Harold, Raymond, Leo, Dale and Thomas Norris. Visitation with the family will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church or to continue research in finding a cure for astrocytoma.
