Ionia County News – Thursday, 25 July 1957

Mrs. Nellie Anderson of Lansing, formerly of Lyons, passed away Saturday, July 
20, at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, following a lengthy illness.  She was 
born December 29, 1893 in Bushnell Township.  Montcalm County, the daughter of 
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bennett, who later came to Lyons to live.  Mrs. Anderson 
attended the Murphy rural school and the Lyons high School.  She was married 
to Glenn Anderson of Alma, who survives.

Other survivors are a son, Herbert, of Lansing; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia 
Davis, of Lansing, Mrs. Helen Bell and Mrs. Ruth Skelcy, both of Saginaw, and 
Phyllis, of Washington State; 12 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Rex VanDyne, 
of Lyons; four brothers, George, Jay and Ray Bennett, all of Lyons, and 
Clarence of Muir.

Services were held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Funeral home in 
Lansing, with graveside services at the cemetery at Alma.

Those who attended the services from Lyons were Mrs. Rex VanDyne, Mrs. Evelyn 
Bugbee and son, Raymond, Mr. and Mrs. George Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bennett 
and children, Jay Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bennett, Mrs. Ruth Benner, Mr. 
and Mrs. Earl VanDyne, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bennett and children, of Muir 
attended also.
