He was station agent at Alto and was previously employed as agent at Lake Odessa where he had resided since 1941. Prior to that he had lived in Ionia. Mr. Nelson was born March 14, 1900 in Emington, Ill., the son of Charles and Isabelle Nelson. He was married October 16, 1919 at Pontiac to Grace Hawkins. He was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and a member and past master of Lake Odessa F & AM lodge. Surviving besides his wife, Grace, are a son, Harold of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Ethel) Hoppough of Saranac, and Mrs. Howard (Esther) Brock of Lake Odessa; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Godfrey Nelson of Cabrey, Ill, and Casper of Campus, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Fairfield of Sibley, Ill. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 Friday afternoon at Pickens funeral chapel and will be under the auspices of the Masonic lodge. The Rev. F. J. Fitch will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
