She was born July 4, 1917 in Nehawka, Neb. the daughter of Parr and Daisy (Jewell) Young. She married Henry Nelson Feb. 15, 1942 in Fort Riley, Kan. Marian attended William Jennings Bryant School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. She worked as a nurse in the Army during WWII . She worked as an RN for Ionia County Health Dept and Planned Parenthood. She was co-owner with her husband Henry of the Nelson's Welcome Orchard where she ran the Farm Market. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1952 where she was active in the choir as an Alto and also a Sunday School teacher. She was an avid tennis player and was a member of the Grand Rapids Racket Club. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Henry Nelson of Ionia; children Binnie Lou of Colorado, Susan of Illinois and Henry Karl of Ionia and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters Mina Jean and Mildred. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Interment Easton Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
