Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Tues. June 5, 2012

Virginia A. Nelson, 91, of Ionia passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012. She was 
born on Feb. 8, 1921 in Belding, the daughter of Roy and Louise (Miller) 
Douglas.

Mrs. Nelson graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan 
University, understood the importance of teaching, and was proud of her career.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Marvin, in 2003.

Surviving are her sons, Sandy (Helen) Nelson, Jon Nelson, and Brian (Kathy) 
Nelson; grandchildren, Alison Melton, Laura (A.J.) Stibitz, David Nelson, Amy 
(Stephen) Mestaugh, Carrie (Jeff) Lich, Kristen Nelson, and Emily Nelson; great 
grandchildren, Ernie Stibitz, Garrett Lich, and Monroe Melton; one brother and 
three sisters. 

The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Lehman 
Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia, with Pastor Fred Labb of Outreach Christian 
Church presiding. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of 
the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia Area 
Hospice, in memory of Virginia. Online condolences may be made at
