Nelson Harold E. Nelson, 42, of Ionia, a C&O freight agent in Ionia for twenty years passed away Sunday evening at St. Marys hospital in Grand Rapids after a three months illness. A native of Ionia he was the son of Russell and Grace Nelson and attended Ionia schools and served in World War II. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the F&AM and Moose lodges of Ionia. Surviving are three sons of Lansing, Larry of Denver, Colo. and Daniel serving aboard the USS Albany in the US Navy; his mother, Mrs. Grace Nelson of Lake Odessa; two sisters Mrs. Floyd (Ethel) Hoppough of Saranac and Mrs. Howard (Esther) Brock of Lake Odessa. His father passed away in 1961. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Myers funeral home at 2 p.m. with burial in the Balcom cemetery. Rev. Lester C. Bailey, pastor of the First Methodist church officiated.
