Sentinel-Standard - Friday, Nov. 2, 1973

Funeral services for Harry S. Nelson, 73, who died Thursday morning at his home 
at 2849 North State road will be Saturday at 1 pm at Leddick funeral home. Rev. 
Eugene A Lewis of Orleans United Methodist church will officiate and interment 
will be at Easton cemetery.

Born at Springfield, Ill., May 21, 1900, he was the son of Mogens and Minnie 
Peterson Nelson and moved to Ionia with the family when a child. They lived on 
the Nelson family farm south of Ionia and he attended the Loomis and Ionia high 
schools. 

After attending school  he built his present home north of Ionia where he lived 
and was engaged in farming until his retirement in 1965.

In July of 1929 he was married to Marguerite Miller who survives. He was a 
lifetime member of Ionia Elks lodge. 

Besides the wife Margarete he leaves a son, Earl Nelson, rural Ionia, and two 
grandchildren. 

A memorial has been established for Ionia County Memorial hospital coronary 
care unit.

Harry S. Nelson
Funeral services for Harry S. Nelson, who died at his home Thursday were 
Saturday at 1 pm. Rev. Eugene Lewis of Orleans United Methodist church 
officiated and interment; was at Easton cemetery.

Bearers were Richard, Douglas, Rick and Marvin Nelson and Herman and John 
Peterson.
