Nemetz, 78, of Ionia, died early Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born in Montcalm County on April 20, 1906, the son of John and Caroline Hundrick Nemetz. At age 18 he made his home on Riverside Drive in Ionia and started working for Ralph’s Iron and Metal. He worked there until it closed in 1980, a total of 60 years. Surviving are four brothers, George of Jackson, Emerson and Robert of Lansing and Glenn of Ionia; six sisters, Mrs. Norman (Mary) Miller of Pewamo, Inez Cupris of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Ronald (Lillian) Hyler of St. Johns, Mrs. Elmer (Marie) Miller of Ionia, Mrs. Earl (Joyce) Houserman of Ionia and Mrs. Edward (Zava) Smejkal of Fenwick; four brothers, John, Paul, Lewis and Henry preceded him in death; Mrs. Pirla Ralph of Ionia, with whom he made his home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Leddick Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Nixon of the Ionia First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyhill Cemetery, north of Palo.
