Spencer, D.D., of the Presbyterian church; Mesdames Thane Benedict and G.M. Phelps were the singers; the bearers were: F. C. Miller, W. F. Marquette, Emory W. More, F. T. Mason, W. F. Soule, Fred K. Graff; and interment was in Highland Park. Deceased was born in Otisco township, and came to Ionia for his schooling while yet a mere lad, and Ionia was his home since, with the exception of a brief period of a year when he went to Clare county for the practice of his profession. He was a graduate of the Ionia High school, and was admitted to the bar in this city. Early in his practice, Mr. Nesbitt was affiliated as firm member with such eminent lawyers as the late W. W. Mitchell, and R. A. Hawley. He was regarded as a good interpreter of the statutes. He early developed a liking for the political life. He contested unsuccessfully for the offices of judge of probate and prosecuting attorney, but he was three times elected justice of the peace in this city, which office he filled with ability and credit. Surviving him are the widow and three daughters; Mrs. Fred Manning of Lansing, Miss Isa, a teacher in the Saranac school, and Miss Naomi, who lives with her mother at home. At time of death he was a member, with policies in force, in the Modern Woodman and Modern Maccabees, and he had taken very advanced degrees in Masonry. He was aged 49 years.
