Belding- William D. "Bill" Newby, 63, of Orleans, passed away Friday under the 
loving care of his family and friends. 

Bill was born on Sept. 12, 1950, in Oakland, Calif., the son of Raymond and 
Thelma Lou (Hout) Newby.

Bill proudly served his country with the United States Marines during the 
Vietnam War. He was a member of the Belding American Legion Post No. 203. Bill 
was a talented wood carver, he enjoyed fishing, being outside and loved living 
at Long Lake. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was 
married on Dec. 5, 1992, in Crestline, Calif., to Barbara Westerling.

Bill is loved and survived by his wife Barbara and his children, Jesse and wife 
Michelle Newby, and Rhianna Newby, all of California; his grandchildren, 
Nicholas, Tiffany, Kaitlyn and James; his father, Raymond Newby; and three 
brothers and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the home of Steve and Robin Johnson, 
6404 Hawley Highway, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Private 
committal prayers will be in River Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour 
before the service.

Military Honors will be given by the Belding VFW Post No. 4406. Memorial 
contributions may be given to American Cancer Society of Veteran's Memorial 
Wall, Belding. Funeral care has been entrusted with Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral
